Funded by: Jiv Daya Foundation, USA
About the Project
A community-based nutrition intervention in five underdeveloped and socio-economically vulnerable villages of Mosaboni and Dumaria Blocks, focused on children aged 6 months to 5 years. Each enrolled child regularly received 180 ml of hot milk, supplementing their daily diet with an accessible source of protein, calcium and other essential nutrients during the critical early years of growth and development. Weight and height were monitored periodically, and nutrition awareness sessions were held with parents and caregivers.
Impact
375 children were enrolled across 5 villages, with 95% attending regularly and around 68 litres of milk distributed every month over 12 months. 50% of monitored children showed improved or positive growth trends, and parents observed better energy, appetite and activity levels. Around 350 parents and caregivers were reached through awareness sessions on nutritious food, milk consumption, hygiene and early childhood care, creating a lasting community mechanism for addressing young children's nutritional needs.
