Our History

How We Built Hope and Humanity

We believe in the power of collective compassion. Through dedicated efforts and inclusive programs, we support vulnerable communities.

Rural Outright Development Society (RODS), popularly known in Hindi as “Purnataya Gramin Vikas Samiti”, was founded in the year 2004 by a group of committed social workers, educators, and community leaders from different sections of society. Inspired by the Gandhian philosophy of self-reliance, participatory development, and the noble concept of Swaraj (self-rule), the founders envisioned an organization that would empower rural communities to take charge of their own development and destiny. The foundation of RODS was built on the belief that sustainable development can only be achieved when communities themselves become active participants and owners of the development process. Accordingly, RODS has consistently worked towards transferring the ownership of its initiatives, programmes, and resources to the people who are the ultimate beneficiaries, thereby promoting self-governance, community leadership, and local accountability. RODS was founded in 2004 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Registration No. 392/2004-05). It also holds 12AB and 80G approvals under the Income Tax Act, CSR-1 registration with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (CSR00000398), FCRA registration (337820063), NITI Aayog NGO Darpan registration (JH/2014/0076067) and ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Yes. RODS holds approval under Section 80G(5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, so donations made by Indian taxpayers are eligible for deduction as permitted under the Act. A receipt is issued for every donation.
