In the year 2004, few people from different sections of the society inspired by the Gandhian philosophy and the noble idea of self-rule founded Rural Outright Development Society (RODS) as a Non Government Organization. The Hindi interpretation of the name “Purnataya Gamin Vikas Samiti”. RODS commit to this philosophy by transferring the ownership of al its efforts to the community who are the ultimate beneficiaries. The founders were also influenced by the philosophy of Bhagavan Birsa Munda and Atul Krisjna Bose; they had a deep concern about the contemporary condition of Mosaboni, which had a long history of negligence from all sectors of the society and abundance of resources. Later this organization became registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Ac, 1976 with a commitments to bring in Socio-economic changes among the most downtrodden people of the area, especially among the women and children of the tribal population and to establish a responsive environment for their needs and to improve their quality of life RODS has walked a long way of 17 years. But people in RODS are still striving achieve the ultimate goal of self-rule and are ready to continue the journey.
RODS Empowering India for a Better Tomorrow! An organization is built brick by brick. RODS foundation stone rests upon the profound belief of 'goodness of society and its welfare'. We believe in equality, we aim to achieve it by empowering the marginalized through organization. We preach and practice a change by being productive and self-reliant and teaching our students to be the same. We dream of a flourishing society free from poverty and social injustices.
Our ObjectiveOur idea of an institution doesn't end at educating students but strives to engage and benefit underprivileged communities in developmental and reformative programs related to health, education, environment, livelihoods and disaster management with an emphasis on social responsibility and human values. RODS believe in empowering the marginalized sectors of our society and bringing about a gender equitable symmetry in our society. RODS recognize the societal evil against women, discriminations against them which results in abuse and violations of their fundamental rights and entitlements, limits their access and control over resources. The foundation strongly believes that empowered women can help families and communities in the fight against poverty, marginalization, exclusion and social injustice. We respect indigenous and traditional communities by treating them as equal partners in our projects. We view them as collaborators instead of participants and we work with them rather than for them. We have witnessed that engaging communities and individuals in this way helps to build capacity and local ownership ultimately increasing the long-term sustainability and viability of our programs.
